E-government aspires to deliver better results for New Zealanders by adapting government to the environment of the information age and the Internet. The following diagram shows the strategy in a nutshell.

The Tertiary Information Strategy supports this in a number of ways, including:

  • bringing the E-government strategy’s outcomes to the tertiary education sector
    • convenience and satisfaction
    • integration and efficiency
    • participation
  • following the standards? that the New Zealand government adopts
  • making standards that the tertiary sector develops available for others to use
  • developing the tertiary education portal using the govt.nz portal framework
  • complying with the interoperability framework
  • seamlessly connecting to government agencies that touch the tertiary sector
  • transforming the tertiary sector’s expectations for access to and delivery of eKnowledge
