MonitoringReport2004 Research Within the Tertiary Education Sector ← Completion Retention and Progression | Home Page | Affordability of Tertiary Education → PBRF assesses quality research in the tertiary education sectorNew baseline indicator An evaluation of the quality of research outputs of researchers in the tertiary education sector was undertaken as part of the implementation of the PBRF. The results show that, of researchers who had produced sufficient quality and quantity of output in the previous six years to be adequately assessed (i.e. rated ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’), almost half produced work of national or international standing. The total funding for university research contracts has continued to increase, with funding totalling $264 million in 2003.
