There have been a number of initiatives to improve study and career information and support. Pathfinder launchedThe Pathfinder web-based guidance and planning tool was launched in July 2004. This addition to the KiwiCareers website significantly improves access to career guidance for tertiary students and other New Zealanders. In particular, those in rural communities, caregivers and others who may have difficulty accessing traditional career information, advice and guidance services will benefit. Users can customise their exploration by age and/or stage of life, which allows Pathfinder to meet differing needs. This makes Pathfinder particularly suitable for enhancing the decision-making of intending tertiary students across the spectrum, from pre-entry, to modifying pathways while in tertiary study, to connecting with the labour market.
