← Pasifika Participation and Achievement At Higher Levels and Across Disciplines | Home Page | Pasifika for Pasifika Education → On this page (hide) These indicators look at the engagement of the tertiary education system with Pasifika communities and the contribution of the system to Pasifika development in NZ and the Pacific. 1. Key indicatorsThe analysis of profiles showed that 30 percent of TEOs had change-focussed objectives relating to contributing to Pasifika development in 2005/07, falling to 25 percent in 2006/08. Objectives were mostly focused on developing relationships with Pasifika communities. ![]() Percentage of TEOs with change focused objectives relating to contributing to Pasifika development in profiles 2005/07–2006/08 The research on stakeholder engagement found fairly low levels of active engagement with Pasifika communities across tertiary education providers. The highest frequency of engagement was from the ITPs. Pasifika communities reported that engagement varied in kind and intensity, with the emphasis tending to be on recruiting Pasifika students, providing information to the provider and students on Pasifika perpectives and helping retain and progress Pasifika students. 2.
