With the change over period from the first to the second strategy and the implementation of ‘investing in a plan’, we have suspended work on this site, including the e-Newsletters.
In the new year, we will make some decisions about how to communciate the work on monitoring the current strategy.
I appreciate your feedback on the newsletters.

Throughout 2006 I enjoyed receiving these newsletters as they kept me informed about the changes in a simple form and led me to information I wanted to know. I do get the TEC Now? updates but as I am not working in the field they are not as informative to me as these newsletters. However, these are very infrequent. Is there a reason for this? They have been many changes within TEC and the new Strategy and little comment from this source.

- You are entitled to see any information held about you by your provider under the Privacy Act, which would include marked assessments.
I suggest you first take the issue up through the internal complaints process of your provider. Providers are required to publish this process. If that is not successful, you can take the matter to the Ombudsman (if it is a public provider) or NZQA (if it is a private provider).

- The tertiary provider I am currently studying with is withholding marked assessments. We cannot get them back. Is this lawful?

- Thanks for your interest.
We are aiming to have the 2004 Monitoring Report out in March - and that will provide some sense of the big picture.
I also recommend having a look through Education Review for commentary from various perspectives on the Strategy and tertiary reforms.

- I am completing my masters thesis. My topic is analysing Objective 17 - improved linkages between secondary and tertiary education - as a stepping stone to a Knowledge Society. The information on this site I think will prove to be a major resource. I have found very little public comment of late on the Strategy and how it is going in the opinion of those affected. When the Strategy was released there were many articles and opinions on how it was going to work and the concerns. Now there seems to be silence. Has anyone seen any comments? Is the Strategy beginning to work? Is there a big picture? Or is TEC bogged down in compliance minutiae (Charters/profiles/PBRF) etc?
