Stakeholder research shows differing views on engagementThe Tertiary Education Strategy puts a strong emphasis on improving connections between tertiary education providers and stakeholders, in order to improve relevance of tertiary education and its contribution to social and economic development. The Ministry of Education has recently released research which explores how tertiary education providers engage with stakeholders, to what extent and how well. The research was undertaken by a team from Waikato Institute of Technology and involved analysis of profiles, focus groups with stakeholders and a supplementary survey of TEIs. The key findings from the research were that:
The research will be used to inform monitoring and evaluation of the current Strategy, as well as thinking for the next Strategy. The Ministry will also be considering how stakeholder views of the performance of the tertiary education sector could be collected more regularly and systematically.
