Why these challenges

These challenges are in front of us because…
- Not everyone is getting a fair shot at discretionary funds; poor public perception of NCEA; poor public perception of Ministry
- We are a large organisation with a focus on student achievement and have not paid attention to issues such as communication and relationships with TLA’s etc. We have combined several organisations with different cultures.
- Need to encourage staff to participate equitably, not just about hierarchy. Need quality teams
- The business plan does include some of the above but the timing of it and awareness of it is not well shared or understood
- The complexity and size of the organisation & sector; increasing expectation from the sector; don’t have internal coherent communication channels, networks, infrastructures; unwillingness to take work off the work programme; part of the culture/ethos
