Learning for Living

Exploratory Projects

As part of the foundation learning work programme, a range of exploratory projects in literacy, numeracy and language are underway across a selection of tertiary/adult settings.

In order to inform policy development for funding and other incentives, these projects aim to identify:

  • the essential components of a programme successful in delivering foundation competencies;
  • what shifts in practice need to occur in programmes; and
  • how these shifts can be encouraged, supported, and sustained.

In particular the projects will focus on demonstrating how the learning of foundation competencies can be:

  • delivered in a range of contexts that meet the motivation and interests of learners specifically related to that context; and
  • linked to the authentic literacy demands learners’ experience in their lives.

The purpose of this site

This website has been developed as a temporary place for the foundation learning exploratory project researchers, developers and providers to communicate with each other and share ideas and resources. Next year Learning for Living will have its own website which will include a space for the Exploratory projects.
