The open access movement aims to transform scholarly communication by making it easier for rsearchers to find and share the results of research, through free and unrestricted on-lline availability. The open access research literature consists of on-lline copies of peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, theses, technical reports and working papers. In most cases there are no licensing restrictions on their use by readers. They can be used freely for research, teaching and other purposes. Open access is not self-publishing, nor a way to bypass peer-review and publication, nor is it a low quality alternative publishing channel. It is simply a way to make copies of research results freely available on-line to the whole research community. An institutional research repository is a digital collection of open access articles and other research resources. |
