On Wednesday 23 November 2005, the National Library of New Zealand [1] hosted a one day symposium on Institutional Research Repositories. Guest speakers from Australia and the United States will share their experiences in establishing Open Access repositories for their research communities. The symposium included a wide-ranging Question and Answer Session.

An institutional repository is a set of services for collecting, storing and making available digital research materials created by an institution and its community. Such repositories are becoming an essential part of our research infrastructure.
