What is an institutional repository

An institutional repository is a set of services for collecting, storing and making available digital research materials created by an institution and its community. Such repositories are becoming an essential part of our research infrastructure.

The workshop will give practical implementation advice

  • explore business and technical matters involved in setting up and running a repository
  • address issues an institution may encounter, such as information policy, how to engage researchers, copyright, standards, and long-term sustainability
  • present a range of suitable software options, including demonstrations of live repositories
  • give delegates an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with their colleagues and speakers
  • enable delegates to make informed decisions on how best to meet their institutions’ repository needs

Who should attend

  • policy-makers, librarians, and information professionals from all organisations engaged in research activities
  • universities and polytechnics, Crown research institutes, government agencies involved in research, and non-aligned researchers
