ESAF can take an active role in Removing Barriers to information access. To ensure people can take advantage of new electronic services, ESAF needs to help build capability and capacity in the schools and in the community. This means a long term commitment to addressing issues of:
- equity of access to reduce disparities and equalise opportunities
- sustainable funding to improve and renew sector infrastructure
- communication and knowledge sharing so people can take the opportunities
- As a learner
- I can study when, where and how I choose, at the institutions that best meet my needs. My learning programme and qualifications include courses from multiple providers. My qualifications are recognised wherever I go.
- As a parent
- I can find and understand information that’s relevant to my family’s learning needs. I have more educational choices and make better decisions about my children’s education. I know more about my children’s education.
- As an educator
- I can get access to a wider range of useful information and analysis. I can trust that information I find is accurate and up-to-date. I can use information in richer ways, give better advice and improve my teaching practices.
- As a curator
- I can make it easier for people to access and use the culture and heritage materials of which I am the trustee. They get new ways to see the collection and my visitor base expands from a local to the national community.
- As an administrator
- Business processes work properly within my institution. We record quality data at source, which feeds up the process chain. Everyone that needs to can access it, wherever they are, through the web.
- As a data custodian
- Because all the data for which I am responsible is visible, it’s easier to find and fix errors. My business processes connect seamlessly with those of my customers. People know what I hold and how to get it.
