ESAF can contribute to Building Bridges between people and the electronic services they need, to help raise learner achievement and become part of the global eLearning community. This could include a range of services best provided centrally and facilitating access to services at the edges. For example:

  • co-ordinating access to and use of a National Student Index database
  • supporting adoption and use of learning activity management systems
  • providing tools to support collaboration and build communities of practice

For learners
I get access to rich culture and heritage sources, wherever these are held; physical and digital; sound, pictures, and other media. I can choose materials to match my learning level.

For teachers
I have support for my professional development, through engagement with my peers, subject experts, parents and the wider community.

For providers
I learn more about people’s information usage patterns and access paths, so I can tailor services more appropriately and reach more people.

For communities
We can become more involved and engaged in the education process and the education process more closely meets our community’s needs.

For agencies
We can become more virtual — parts of a bigger whole — collecting information once, holding it in one place, accessing it when needed.

For vendors
Private sector partnerships can bring in collaborative services for educational use at low cost, while making it easier for vendors to work with the sector.
