The Neutral Point of View principle aims to present ideas and facts in such a way that both supporters and opponents can agree. The neutrality policy says that we should fairly represent all sides of a subject, and not make a page state, imply, or suggest that any one side is correct.

We should write pages without bias, represent all views fairly and attribute controversial opinions, rather than stating them as fact.

The aim is that over time, people with differing views can reach agreement on the contents of a page, without compromising their own positions. The benefit of this approach is that the content avoids being so general that its value as a practical guide to decision-making is compromised.

As authors, we are bold in the changes we make; we are fearless editors of content we think is biased; we are fair in representing views with which we may disagree. We practice egoless writing — if someone ruthlessly edits a page you wrote, take it as a compliment, because you stimulated their thinking.
