The site supports vowels with macrons, as used in te reo Māori, using the Unicode UTF-8 standard. Note that macrons will display correctly when your browser supports use of the UTF-8 character set, and the character set is available on your computer. Authors using Mac OS X v10.2 or above can use the Hawaiian keyboard to enter macron vowels directly. At the moment, macrons in page titles are not supported, mainly because a URL isn’t allowed to contain Unicode characters1. Authors using Windows or older versions of Mac OS can create macrons using the following table. It uses the DocBook ISO-Latin-2 entities to represent long vowel characters.
See http://www.dream-it.co.nz for more information. Special Features | Smart Quotes and Quick Dashes → 1 Authors can use the double bracket markup to include macrons in references to other pages, for example Te Kōhanga Reo (↑) |
